Extractions

We make every effort to preserve your natural teeth! However, sometimes are situations where extractions may become the best option. Some of the most common situations being severely damaged teeth from extensive decay, severely fractured teeth from trauma, and severely mobile teeth from advanced gum disease. Another common reason for extractions are wisdom teeth that are causing discomfort or pose a risk for future problems.

If an extraction is ever needed, we take great care to make sure our patients are completely comfortable and numb before proceeding with the procedure, and we will always answer all questions beforehand to make sure you are at ease!

Wisdom Teeth

Biology has given us some extra molars, commonly referred to as wisdom teeth or third molars. If you don’t have wisdom teeth, consider yourself lucky! For a good portion of the population, these teeth tend to cause issues due to causing teeth crowding, poor cleanability leading to inflammation and cavities, sometimes even affecting the second molars. For wisdom teeth that are frequently symptomatic, especially lower wisdom teeth that are horizontally oriented, extraction may be the best option.

Dr. Hsieh is proficient at wisdom teeth removal (straight and horizontally impacted) and we have a 3D x-ray machine that can help visualize the position of wisdom teeth roots that normal x-rays can’t reach.
